Students face several challenges when they decide to undertake their studies in a different country. Some of the challenges are universal in the sense that every foreigner student in a given institution will undergo them, while others are specific, depending on the institution one undertakes their studies. Some of these challenges are discussed below.

 

 

Language:

 

This challenge is commonly experienced by students moving to countries where a different language is used. With the diversification of education and the introduction of exchange programs, sometimes it is essential that students from a given university tour another. When this is the case, the foreign students find it difficult to communicate with the natives. Learning becomes difficult because the students find it difficult to understand what is being taught, apart from the challenges they face to integrate with other students. 

 

This is the most common challenge worldwide. In order to overcome this challenge, it is important for the international student to look for somebody who will translate to him. In this way, they will not only get to understand what was taught, but also be in a better position to integrate with others.

 

 

Academic:

 

Nevertheless, it is not only just a matter of English language proficiency for foreign students, intellectual and emotional boundaries will be tested and study habits will be challenged in a schools.

Usually, international students are academic stars in their home country. And it becomes a challenge when they are no longer the superior student in a foreign school. In fact, it is easy for international students to get depressed when they are no longer keeping the grades they are used to achieving.

In addition, the cultures of education differ from country to country. For example, schools in the UAE are more focused on class participation than any other countries. The way international students get used to for study may not be appropriate for studying in the UAE. And the educational approach in the UAE may looks unfamiliar to international students who are accustomed to expect more guidance and help from teachers. Foreign students may lack knowledge of how to find and use information to accomplish their purposes.

 

 

Solutions:

International students need assistance to overcome difficulties originating from education system and linguistic differences and enhance their academic performance. However, when they have troubles in their classes, they may not be able to find the causes of academic problems and know where to turn for help.

Actually, the question remains whether our school has been able to give their international students sufficient help and the attention required for adjusting them in a foreign land.

 يواجه الطلاب العديد من التحديات عندما يختارون الدراسة في بلد آخر. بعض التحديات عالمية بمعنى أن كل طالب أجنبي في مؤسسة معينة سيخضع لها، في حين أن بعضها الآخر محدد، يعتمد على المؤسسة حيث يتلقّى الطّالب دراسته. تتمّ مناقشة بعض هذه التحديات في الأسفل. 

 اللغة: يواجه هذا التحدي الطلاب المنتقلين إلى بلد يتمّ فيه استخدام لغة مختلفة عن لغتهم. فمع تنوع التعليم وإدخال برامج التبادل، من الضروري أحيانا أن يقوم طلاب من جامعة معينة بزيارة جامعة أخرى مختلفة. وفي هذه الحالة، يجد الطلاب الأجانب صعوبة في التواصل مع المواطنين الأصليين. يصبح التعلم صعبا لأن الطلاب يجدون صعوبة في فهم ما يدرّس بالإضافة إلى التحديات التي يواجهونها للإندماج مع غيرهم

 هذا هو التحدي الأكثر شيوعا في جميع أنحاء العالم. ومن أجل التغلب على هذا التحدي، من المهم أن يبحث الطالب الدولي عن مترجم. هذه الطريقة، لن تسهّل عليهم فقط عمليّة فهم ما يدرّس بل ستساعدهم على الإندماج مع الآخرين.

Academic:

الدراسة: ومع ذلك، فإنّ المسألة ليست مجرد إتقان الطلاب الأجانب للغة الإنجليزية وحسب، بل سيتم اختبار قدراتهم الفكرية والعاطفية وكيفية تلقيهم للمعلومات في المدارس.

عادة، يتميّز الطلاب الدوليين في وطنهم الأم. ويظهر التحدي عندما لا يظهر هؤلاء الطلاب أي تفوق في المدارس الأجنبية. في الواقع، من السهل جدًا أن يساور الاكتئاب الطلاب الدوليين عندما لا يعودون قادرين على الاحتفاظ بنفس درجات التفوّق التي تعودوا عليها. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تختلف ثقافات التعليم من بلد إلى آخر. على سبيل المثال، إن المدارس في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة تركز على مشاركة الطالب في الصف أكثر من أي دولة أخرى. فالأسلوب الدّراسي الذي تعود عليه الطلاب الدوليين قد لا يلائمهم للدراسة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. والنهج التعليمي في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة قد يبدو غير مألوف للطلاب الدوليين الذين اعتادوا التوجيه والمساعدة من المعلمين. قد يفتقر الطلاب الأجانب إلى معرفة كيفية العثور على المعلومات واستخدامها لتحقيق أهدافهم.

الحلول: يحتاج الطلاب الأجانب إلى المساعدة للتغلب على الصعوبات الناشئة من نظام التعليم والاختلافات اللغوية ولتحسي

ن أدائهم الدّراسي. لكن عندما يكون لديهم مشاكل في صفوفهم، قد لا يتمكّنون من إيجاد أسباب المشاكل الدّراسيّة ومعرفة طريق الحصول على المساعدة. في الواقع، يبقى السؤال ما إذا كانت مدارسنا قادرة على إعطاء طلابها الدوليين المساعدة الكافية والاهتمام اللازم ليتكيفوا في الأراضي الأجنبية.
